Q: Amma, if the mind is still, then everything settles down eventually, like mud settling down in still water. But how can I achieve that stillness of mind when I’m surrounded by all the responsibilities of family? The challenges of day-to-day life do not let me concentrate on Self.
Amma: It’s not only in still water that mud settles down; it settles even in a flowing river. Though the river water gets muddy due to rain, does it stop its dharma of flowing? It is for the outside world that the river looks clean or muddy, but for the river, the true joy is in flowing towards its goal of merging with the ocean.
Whatever the situation around you, never give up on your values. Holding on to your Dharma (righteousness) in any situation is the true meaning of stillness in your spiritual journey. Blessings.
