Divine Command

Pranams all

I want to remind all of how important it is to follow “Guru Vakya” or Divine Command.

Almost a year back Amma had taken around 10 people to Chickamagalur and I was one of them. There was a waterfall 5km from where we were staying. We decided to visit it and had to trek inside a coffee estate after crossing a muddy road.  All the ladies in the group wore salwar Kameez and since we all were wearing jackets we decided not to wear Dupatta (veil which is usually worn with salwar suit).

As soon as we got into the vehicle Amma came out from her room and seeing that we were ready, She smiled and  asked us to go back to the room and wear our dupattas.  We were like small children with Amma pestering her saying it is more comfortable to trek without a Dupatta but Amma didn’t get into the vehicle until we obeyed her words.

After reaching half way by vehicle we had to trek for an hour and climb the rocks.Amma instructed us to walk with her.

I saw somebody ahead wearing the clothes that were the same color as Amma’s and I assumed that Amma had already reached the other side of the rock so I walked ahead leaving everyone behind. After reaching the other end I saw that it was a group of 4 boys and one boy’s T Shirt resembled  Amma’s clothes color.

While I was crossing the rocks, in a split second I slipped between two rocks and fell down around 13 feet along the waterfall.  By divine grace I landed very smoothly on a bed of sand which was behind the waterfall. I couldn’t get out as the force and speed of the water was very strong;  I couldn’t climb up as the rock was slippery and I was stuck between two rocks. The water was falling on my back with tremendous force and the slightest slip could have turned fatal.

Amma with all her calmness came and stood just in-front of that waterfall like a pillar and told me not to worry.  I could hear her and see her standing on the other side of the waterfall, consoling me to be calm.

That day, other than our group, only those 4 boys were present who had come for trekking. They were trying to help me but there was nothing to use as a helping tool. Amma took all our “dupattas” and tied the ends together like a rope and asked those boys to pull me out.

They  threw one end to me and I tied it around my waist and they pulled me up.

During all that was happening, few saw Amma signalling one person, keeping her index finger on her lips ( it was like Amma was telling him to not  tell anyone).  Later when we asked that young boy he told us that when Amma was standing in the water, there was a snake around her leg and since he saw that, Amma signalled him to not  tell others as Amma  did not want us to panic at that time.

Later Amma hugged me and said “go and check the Horoscope which your mother had got done for you; You are saved from Jala kantaka”. ( We Indians believe in horoscopes and Jala means water and kantaka means dangerous event or threat to life).

My mother was a devotee of Goddess Chamundeshwari.  I am sure that it was her prayers for the well being of her children that had brought me into our divine Mother’s lap.

Champa.
