SY: Why have you chosen to separate Gurusthaan from the Guru and given them two different identities? Or have I understood it wrong? Is Gurusthaan one level/levels higher than the Guru.
AMMA : There is no separation between Guru and Gurutatwa. Brahma, Vishnu, Maheshwara are the different names and forms of that one truth as per the different stages or state of the action which are Creation, sustenance and destruction. Guru’s forms are many but Gurusthaan/Gurutatwa is one. Guru teaches his/her message in a way depending on the situation/level of spiritual growth in which the Bhakta or the disciple is in. The methodology of teaching may differ from Guru to Guru but ultimately the Gurusthaan or the Gurutatwa is the same. It is this Gurutatwa that one has to uphold at all times. Gurusthan/ Guruthatwa is nothing but your supreme consciousness and you have been guided in every stages of your life.
SY: Amma , isn’t realisation of that truth far away?
AMMA : Need not be. It could take even a fraction of a second. However , the process is like the opening of a lotus flower. Petals has to open and bloom layer by layer. There is a beauty in that. If you open it forcefully then it withers away quickly even before it blooms it to its fullest form. Similarly in your journey within, be in the present and be a witness to all that is happening. The Guru knows when and in what way the teachings are to be imparted.
Amma gives a very live and cute example to explain this concept. A teacher in school tells a kindergarten child about an apple showing a picture and telling it’s name. Thereafter in the next class the spellings are taught. In the class after the child is shown how to draw an apple ,then colour it. Even after , the physical apple is shown to the child. Later on the benefits of eating an apple are told. All this learning is completed when child eats the apple and tastes the true essence behind all the knowledge it gathered. So stage by stage depending on the receptivity of the child the information is delivered. So too in spirituality. The guruthatwa similarly teaches the truth of life through different forms in different stages of the journey.
